Tips to Pack for International Relocation

Relocating to Portugal? Here are some top tips to pack for international relocation:

Materials
You will need materials to pack up your possessions as well as possible. Cardboard boxes, confetti, bubble wrap and sheets of newspaper are good for smaller items. Larger items, such as furniture, should be wrapped in a cloth. Old bed sheets, or dust sheets are the ideal materials for this. It is also a good idea to have painter’s tape, otherwise known as masking tape, to hand so you can cover any furniture legs.

Packing
Smaller items should be packed separately with bubble wrap and paper. Brittle items, or fragile items, should be given space. This can be achieved by putting them in boxes. Larger items should be secured in the vehicle with straps.

Loading
When loading your goods, you will need fit and able-bodied helpers. Loading is all about using a safe technique which you can replicate. Larger items will need two or more people to be loaded safely into a truck, car, or van.

Unloading
A ramp, or steps, should be used to provide easy access to the vehicle. Unloading should be afforded the same care as loading. Take your time to safely remove items. Take regular breaks and don’t over exert yourself.

Not up for that? Then hire a removal company

International relocation to Portugal might seem like a daunting process but working with a professional international removals company will make the process much easier.

Removals companies to Portugal can offer small removals to Portugal, and they can offer a service for larger items too, such as moving furniture to Portugal.

Hiring a company to transport your possessions for you will take the stress away from packing, loading, transporting, and unloading. It’s a no-brainer. Removals companies offer good, seasonal rates too, so it might be more affordable than you think.
