When you are moving to France, we know it can be a stressful experience. Moving home is known to be one of the most stressful things that we ever do. It is bad enough if you are just moving down the road or across the county, but when you are moving to another country, especially if it is at short notice, you may not even have had time to fully learn the language.

How To Create a Moving Budget

When moving, there’s so many things to do that making a budget is probably not so high on your priority list. However, not being prepared could cost you huge amounts of money in the long run.

If you want to reduce the chances of you blowing through your savings, set a budget first before you start doing anything. Allocating resources to essential activities first will help you understand how much is left for other less important things, like buying new pieces of furniture or stocking up your shelves.

Survival first, luxuries later

The most important thing is that you can survive for a few months with enough food, clothes and comfort so that your exciting new move is still as exciting as you’d imagined.

You can always treat yourself to some luxuries once you are truly settled into your new life.

How to Prepare The Essentials When Moving Home

When moving home, not packing a box of essentials is an easy mistake to make. But when you open the door to your new place and realise you have literally nothing you need to survive for the weeks or months before your shipment arrives, you’ll regret not having a selection of essential items to keep you ticking over in the meantime.

Set aside a ‘small’ box

Don’t forget you need to bring this box with you to your new home – Spain, Portugal or France removals might allow you to drive to your new destination, but you may have to get a flight, so don’t choose a box that is too large.

The box of essentials should contain only items you will need when you first move. This could include items needed to cook meals during your first few days or things like, hammers, nails and screwdrivers to assemble your new furniture.

France removals

What if it doesn’t fit?

If you simply can’t fit your essential things into your cabin and hold luggage for example, make sure you still pack an essentials box and label it appropriately so that you can access it as soon as your removals to France or any other part of Europe arrives.

You might have to survive on packet noodles in the meantime, but at least you won’t have to go searching through everything when you arrive.
