Some Tips On Moving To Spain

If you are moving to Spain one of the things that you are going to need is a bank account. You may have an account with Santander over here and think that there will be no problem, but the fact is that you will need to open a separate bank account over there. The same applies if you are with Barclays or any other UK bank.

For house removals to Spain you will need certain documents in order to ship your belongings. These include a full inventory in Spanish! You will also need an NIE, even for small removals to Spain, which is a document that is issued by the Spanish Police and you can only obtain from the Comisaria General de Extranjeria office. These are not in every town, so you will have to go on to the national police website to find the nearest one.

In addition, you need your house deeds or rental contract, your passport, an application for duty free import, your residence certificate, and if you have a job a letter from your employer confirming that. Your removal company should be able to guide you with this.

There are some restrictions on removals to Spain. You cannot take any plants unless they have a Phytosanitary Certificate, and if you are taking a sporting gun you need a licence and permission from Spain. Spain removals that include your car will need you to register it within 30 days for which you will need to pass a Spanish MOT test.
