Are you studying abroad for a semester in
Europe? Or perhaps being transferred by your company to another branch?
Whatever the situation, there’s a great deal of preparation that needs to be
done before packing your bags for Europe.
1. 1.Learn the language
Not everyone speaks English! While a great
deal of people do indeed speak English, and you would expect the percentage of
people in Europe that can command this language would be high, this is no
excuse to neglect the fact that every European country has its own language –
even if you’re only considering removals to France. As well as needing to
understand the basics to communicate with people in your day to day life, you
should also try to speak the local language as a gesture of respect.
2. Get to know where you’ll live
Do some research about the area you’ll be
living before you go. Don’t just check where the best bars are. Also look into
where the important facilities and amenities are like hospitals, chemists,
dentists, libraries and supermarkets. You’ll also need to find out how you can
navigate around the city, whether this is on foot or by public transport.
3. 3. Find a good place to live
If you’re not sure where you’re staying
yet, start to research areas that you might want to look for accommodation in. If
you won’t have accommodation already set up, it’s easy to just choose the
cheapest and easiest option available. However, the best thing to do is to
inquire into things like safety, atmosphere and proximity to essential
locations. One tactic, if you’re considering removal companies to France, is to
temporarily book yourself into a rental apartment so you can explore the
neighbourhoods in person.
